    Automobile lubricants are used very frequently during maintenance. In addition to protecting the engine and reducing the number of oil changes, high-quality lubricants can also save gasoline expenses. At the same time, be careful not to cause car failures due to improper use of lubricants. "Improper" use methods generally stem from four "misunderstandings" of lubricants by car owners.
    Misunderstanding 1: Add as much lubricant as possible
    The amount of lubricant should be controlled between the upper and lower scale lines of the oil dipstick. Because too much lubricant will enter the combustion chamber from the gap between the cylinder and the piston to burn and form carbon deposits. These carbon deposits will increase the engine compression ratio and increase the tendency to produce knock; carbon deposits in the cylinder are red hot and can easily cause pre-ignition. If they fall into the cylinder, they will aggravate the wear of the cylinder and piston, and accelerate the pollution of the lubricant. Secondly, too much lubricant increases the stirring resistance of the crankshaft connecting rod, which increases fuel consumption.
    Misunderstanding 2: When the lubricant turns black, it is time to change the oil
    This understanding is not comprehensive. For lubricating oil without adding a dispersant, the blackening of the color is indeed a sign that the oil has seriously deteriorated, but the lubricating oil used in modern cars is generally added with a dispersant. This dispersant washes off the rubber film and black carbon deposits adhering to the piston and disperses them in the oil, reducing the generation of high-temperature sediments in the engine. Therefore, the color of the lubricating oil tends to turn black after a period of use, but the oil at this time has not completely deteriorated.
    Misunderstanding 3: Lubricating oil is often added without replacement
    It is correct to check the lubricating oil frequently, but only adding without replacement can only make up for the lack of oil quantity, but cannot completely compensate for the loss of lubricating oil performance. During the use of lubricating oil, the quality will gradually decline due to pollution, oxidation and other reasons, and there will be some consumption, which will reduce the quantity.
    Misunderstanding 4: Additives are very useful
    Really high-quality lubricating oil is a finished product with multiple engine protection functions. The formula already contains a variety of additives, including anti-wear agents, and the lubricating oil pays the most attention to the balance of the formula to ensure the full play of various performances. Adding other additives on your own will not only fail to provide additional protection for the vehicle, but will easily react with the chemicals in the engine oil, causing a decrease in the overall performance of the engine oil.
