In the maintenance and care of mechanical equipment, the correct application of grease is a vital task. It can not only reduce friction and wear, but also extend the service life of the equipment and improve work efficiency.
First of all, before applying grease, you must ensure the cleanliness of the application area. Use a clean cloth or brush to remove dust, impurities and old grease residues on the surface. If there is oil on the surface, it needs to be properly cleaned and dried to ensure that the new grease can fully play its role.
Choosing the right grease is also extremely critical. Different equipment, working environments and working conditions require the use of different types and specifications of grease. Factors such as operating temperature, load size, speed, etc. should be taken into account. For example, high-temperature resistant grease should be used in high-temperature environments, and products with good compressive resistance are required under high-load conditions.
Next is the method of application. For small parts or narrow spaces, you can use a grease gun or a special grease application tool to accurately inject or apply the grease to the specified part. For larger contact surfaces, such as bearings, the grease should be evenly applied to the raceways and balls of the bearings before installation.
Pay attention to the principle of appropriate amount when applying. Too much grease may increase the running resistance and cause overheating; too little grease may not provide sufficient lubrication protection. Generally speaking, the space filled with grease should be 1/2 to 2/3.
After the application is completed, the distribution of the grease needs to be checked to ensure that it is evenly covered on the surface that needs lubrication.
In short, the correct application of grease requires comprehensive consideration of cleaning, choosing the right product, using the right method, and controlling the amount. Only in this way can the role of grease be fully utilized to ensure the normal operation and long-term use of the equipment.
