    Are lubricants hazardous materials?
At around 11:00 p.m. on August 12, an explosion occurred in the Tanggu Development Area area of Tianjin City, with the scene ablaze. So far, it has caused hundreds of casualties. Initial investigation, the explosion, due to the Tianjin Binhai New Area Development Zone around the Ruihai dangerous goods warehouse explosion caused. As soon as the news came out, the country immediately launched a special rectification of hazardous chemicals and flammable and explosive substances... Does lubricant belong to the category of dangerous goods? What is the category of dangerous goods, in fact, many people are not clear.
1 The hazardous class of oil is divided according to the flash point
The flash point is an item that indicates the evaporation tendency and safety properties of petroleum products. Flash point below 45 ℃ is called flammable products; above 45 ℃ for combustible products. From the flash point can be judged from the oil composition of the weight, identification of oil fire risk, the higher the flash point the safer.
      2 Classification of Hazardous Characteristics
According to GB6944-2012 "Dangerous Goods and Product Numbers", according to the hazardous nature of dangerous goods or the most important danger is divided into nine categories: Class l: explosives; Class 2: gases; Class 3: flammable liquids; Class 4: flammable solids, easy to spontaneous combustion of the material, the material in contact with water to release flammable gases; Class 5: oxidizing agents and Organic peroxides; Category 6: toxic and infectious substances; Category 7: radioactive substances. Class 8: Corrosive substances. Category 9: Miscellaneous hazardous substances and articles, including environmentally hazardous substances. The first five of these categories are explosive hazards, the last four categories of many substances also have explosive hazards.
      3 Properties of lubricating oil
Firstly, it does not have the characteristic of flammability; secondly, it does not have strong corrosiveness; thirdly, it does not have volatility; fourthly, it does not have the property of not being easy to be packed; fifthly, it does not have the property of not being easy to be stored and transported. Therefore, the lubricant does not belong to the dangerous goods, can not be in accordance with the regulations for the transportation and storage of dangerous goods. But lubricants also belong to chemical products, but also to ensure safe storage and transportation, to avoid pollution of the environment.
      4 Importance of Flash Point
Flash point has an important significance in fire protection, flash point is an important parameter to characterize the fire hazard of flammable combustible liquids: flash point is the production of combustible liquids, storage places, fire hazard classification is an important basis for classification of hazardous liquids, is a, B, C classification of hazardous liquids based on. According to the design and application of fire engineering, flammable liquids are divided into three major categories according to the flash point. Namely:
Class A liquids: liquids with a flash point less than 28°C. (such as crude oil, gasoline, etc.)
Class B liquids: liquids with a flash point greater than or equal to 28°C but less than 60°C. (Such as jet fuel, lamp kerosene)
Category C liquids: liquids with a flash point greater than 60 ℃ or more. (Heavy oil, diesel oil, lubricating oil, etc.)
Notes on the use of lubricants
      Oil Storage.
      1. Do not place the oil in the open air to prevent water and debris from invading and contaminating the oil.
      2. Indoor storage can be placed in the upright position with the barrel facing upwards for easy extraction.
      3. Tighten the sealing cap to keep the drum sealed.
      4. Keep the drum clean and clearly labeled.
      5. Keep the ground clean to facilitate timely detection of oil leakage.
      6. Do a good job of storage registration, first come first serve.
      7. Frequently extracted oil, placed in the oil drum rack with a switch to control the flow of release.
      8. New oil and waste oil are placed separately, and containers filled with waste oil should not be filled with new oil to prevent contamination.
      Oil safety:
      1. Oil is stored in independent cellar, and no combustible products are allowed to be placed around it.
      2. Smoke and fire are strictly prohibited, and no fire may be brought into the oil depot.
      3. Equipped with not less than two incendiary devices.
      4. The tarpaulin or oil stains removed after wiping the machinery should not be piled up in order to avoid combustion.
      5. Flammable special oils or chemical solvents are stored separately and placed on the flammable sign.
      Attention to use:
      1. Consult with a lubrication expert to use lubricants of appropriate specifications and minimize the type of oil used.
      2. For each type of machinery, show the parts that need to be refueled, the name of the oil, the refueling cycle, etc. in a simple drawing and have a person be responsible for it, so as to avoid using the wrong type of oil.
      3. Before each refueling, clean and wipe the oil pump, oil pot and other containers and tools.
      4. Special containers for each type of oil are used, and the name of the oil product is indicated on the containers to prevent contamination.
      5. Before changing the oil, the machine must be rinsed clean with solvent, do not use water-soluble cleaning agent.
      6. After each addition or replacement of lubricating oil, do a good job of mechanical maintenance records.
      7. If you find the oil is abnormal or has reached the cycle of oil change, you should take samples and submit them to the professional company for laboratory test.
      Environmental protection and health:
      1. It is strictly prohibited to discharge the waste oil directly into the gutter and pour it into the soil to prevent pollution of the environment.
      2. Waste oil and waste liquid should be collected in special barrels and then handed over to government-licensed recyclers for recycling, and should not be dumped indiscriminately.
      3. People with skin allergies or scratches should avoid direct contact with the lubricating oil.
      4. Do not wear clothes that are permeated with oil stains, and do not place oil-contaminated debris in bags.
      5. Do not use dirty cloth to wipe off the oil stains on the skin, in order to prevent metal shavings hidden in the cloth from scratching the skin and causing infection.
