How to judge the quality of grease
The quality of grease can be judged from the following aspects:
1. Appearance
Color
High-quality grease has uniform color, without obvious impurities and stratification. Generally speaking, common grease colors are yellow, white, gray, etc. If the color is uneven or there are obvious spots of different colors, it may indicate that there is a problem with the product quality.
Transparency
Good grease usually has a certain degree of transparency, and the internal uniformity can be observed. If the grease is turbid or opaque, it may be caused by impurities, moisture or other adverse factors.
Consistency
Dip a small amount of grease with your fingers or tools to feel its consistency. The consistency of high-quality grease is moderate, neither too thin to cause too fast loss, nor too thick to be difficult to apply.
2. Performance indicators
Dropping point
The dropping point is an important indicator to measure the high temperature resistance of grease. The higher the dropping point, the better the stability of the grease at high temperature.
Cone penetration
Cone penetration reflects the hardness of the grease. The appropriate cone penetration can ensure that the grease can not only adhere well to the friction surface during use, but also provide sufficient lubrication when needed. Generally speaking, grease with moderate cone penetration has better performance.
Water resistance
If the grease is used in a humid environment or in contact with water, water resistance is particularly important. High-quality grease should have good water resistance and should not be easily washed away or emulsified by water.
3. Use effect
Lubrication performance
Apply the grease to the actual friction part and observe its lubrication effect. High-quality grease can effectively reduce the friction coefficient, reduce wear and heat, and extend the service life of the equipment.
Sealing performance
For some parts that need to be sealed, the grease should also have good sealing performance. You can check whether there is leakage in the sealing part after using the grease.
Anti-rust performance
If the grease is used on the metal surface, it should have certain anti-rust performance to prevent the metal from rusting and corrosion. The anti-rust performance can be judged by observing the anti-rust effect of the metal surface after using the grease.
