Lubrication system of paper machine: what is the best temperature?

I heard that high temperature will increase the consumption of lubricant additives and accelerate the oxidation of base oil. We are a paper mill, but the manufacturer of paper machine told us that the main oil tank temperature of the machine should be kept at about 82 degrees Celsius (180 degrees Fahrenheit). Why do we need such a high temperaturae? What is the reason?
Indeed, high temperature operation will accelerate the loss of additives and base oil. Generally, the working temperature of lubricating oil is 30-80 degrees Celsius. The life of lubricating oil is closely related to its working temperature.
Experience tells us that when the working oil temperature exceeds 60 degrees Celsius, the service life of the oil will be halved for every increase of 18 degrees Fahrenheit (7.8 degrees Celsius). However, it is still generally recommended to keep it at a high temperature in paper mills.
The reasons are as follows: the lubricating oil has better water separation ability, reduces the foaming tendency, helps to expel air in the oil, is more conducive to the sedimentation of particles, is conducive to the reflux circulation of oil, and accelerates the evaporation of water.
But in fact, to fully obtain these benefits brought by high temperature, you only need to keep the temperature at 60 degrees Celsius (140 degrees Fahrenheit). At this temperature point, the viscosity of the oil is higher than that at 82 degrees
Celsius, and the degree of oxidation is not as high as at 82 degrees Celsius.
Therefore, in the relationship between temperature and lubrication, we need to pay attention to two points: one is to consider the temperature requirements of the specific working conditions when selecting oil products, and take the temperature into account; the other is to consider the optimal temperature point. Just like other things in life, the temperature of lubricating oil also needs to be controlled. "Moderation" is often safer. Too high and too low, even if they have advantages, often bring greater problems. In practice, we need to pay more attention, learn more, and summarize experience to find the best way to lubricate.
