How to Choose Grease According to the Working Temperature
In high temperature environments (above 120°C), high temperature resistant grease should be selected. For example, composite lithium-based grease can maintain good lubrication performance at around 180°C, because its molecular structure is stable and it will not easily soften or flow at high temperatures. There is also polyurea grease, which has a high dropping point (the temperature at which grease changes from solid to liquid) and good antioxidant properties. It can effectively prevent oxidation and carbonization in high temperature environments and is suitable for high-temperature motor bearings and other equipment.
In low temperature environments (below 0°C), the low temperature fluidity of grease needs to be considered. Greases based on synthetic hydrocarbon oil can still maintain good fluidity at low temperatures to ensure that the equipment can be lubricated normally. This grease is suitable for lubrication of engineering machinery operating outdoors in cold areas. Ordinary mineral oil-based greases may become viscous or even solidify at low temperatures, affecting the lubrication effect.
If the operating temperature of the equipment varies greatly, from low temperature to high temperature, it is best to choose a wide temperature grease, which can maintain good performance over a wide temperature range and ensure that the equipment can be effectively lubricated at different temperatures.
