Grease replacement cycle
From the perspective of equipment type, different equipment has different requirements for grease replacement cycle. For example, under normal use, the wheel hub bearings of automobiles need to be replaced about 2-3 years or when the mileage reaches 40,000-80,000 kilometers; while motor bearings in the industrial field, if in normal working conditions, generally replace grease every 1-2 years.
The working environment is one of the key factors. In high-temperature environments, such as equipment working in high-temperature areas such as metallurgical plants, grease will evaporate and oxidize due to high temperature, and may need to be replaced every few months. If the equipment is in an environment with chemical corrosive substances, such as near a chemical plant with acidic and alkaline gases or liquids, the grease is easily corroded and deteriorated, and its replacement cycle will be greatly shortened. On the contrary, in a clean, dry and temperature-appropriate environment, the performance of the grease is relatively stable, and the replacement cycle can be effectively extended.
Workload and operating speed also greatly affect the replacement cycle. High-load, high-speed equipment components, such as high-speed machine tool spindle bearings, may need to be replaced every 3-6 months due to severe friction and fast grease wear. For equipment with small loads and low speeds, such as some small ventilation equipment, the grease replacement cycle is relatively longer.
In addition, the quality of the grease itself is crucial. High-quality grease performs well in terms of anti-oxidation, anti-wear, and anti-corrosion, and has a long service life and a correspondingly long replacement cycle; while poor-quality grease is prone to performance degradation in a short period of time and needs to be replaced more frequently.
