Selection of lubricating oil
The selection of lubricating oil is the primary link in the use of lubricating oil, and is the key to ensure the reasonable lubrication of equipment and give full play to the performance of lubricating oil.
1. The following three factors should be considered comprehensively when selecting lubricating oil:
⑴ Working conditions (i.e. working conditions) when the mechanical equipment is actually used;
⑵ Designation or recommendation of the manual of the mechanical equipment manufacturer;
⑶ Regulations or recommendations of lubricating oil manufacturers.
2. Selection of lubricating oil performance indicators
⑴ Viscosity: Viscosity is an indicator for the classification and grading of various lubricating oils, which is of decisive significance for quality identification and determination. The viscosity of lubricating oil for equipment is determined by checking relevant charts based on design or calculation data.
⑵ Pour point: Pour point is an indirect indicator of low-temperature fluidity during storage, transportation and use of lubricating oil. Experience has shown that the use temperature of general lubricating oil must be 5~10℃ higher than the pour point.
⑶ Flash point: Flash point is mainly an indicator of safety in the storage, transportation and use of lubricating oil, and it is also an indicator for controlling the fraction and volatility of lubricating oil during production. The principle of flash point index of lubricating oil is to leave a 1/2 safety factor according to safety regulations, that is, 1/2 higher than the actual use temperature. For example, the maximum oil temperature of the oil pan of the internal combustion engine does not exceed 120℃, so the minimum flash point of the internal combustion engine oil is 180℃.
⑷ Selection of performance indicators: There are many performance indicators, and the gap between different varieties is huge. Reasonable decisions should be made based on the working conditions of the equipment, the requirements of the manufacturer, and the description and introduction of the oil product. Strive to meet the lubrication technical requirements and be economical and reasonable.
