If deteriorated industrial lubricants are used, parts will be damaged, the life of the machine will be affected, and in serious cases, safety accidents may occur. Therefore, we must treat it with caution, and we should always check whether the oil is deteriorating and replace it in time. So what are the ways to identify the deterioration of industrial lubricants? The following are introduced below.
Observation method
Take 2 measuring cups, one filled with lubricating oil and the other without lubricating oil, then raise the measuring cup with lubricating oil to the height of 3 cups, and pour it into the empty cup at an angle. During the observation period, the lubricating oil will flow into the empty cup evenly, slenderly, and continuously. If it is of poor quality, it will flow fast and slow, and sometimes there will be large pieces left, which means it has deteriorated.
Finger grinding method
Grind the lubricating oil with the thumb and index finger. After repeated grinding, the lubricity, friction degree, and amount of wear debris of the lubricating oil can be judged. Good lubricating oil will have good lubricity, very little wear debris, and no friction. However, if it is found to be granular during friction, it means that the oil is problematic and cannot be used. It should be replaced in time.
Sunlight exposure method
You can stick industrial lubricating oil on the screwdriver, then tilt it at a 40-degree angle, let the oil slowly fall along the tip of the screwdriver in the sun, and observe the oil droplets. The oil under the light can clearly see whether there is wear debris. If there is no wear debris, it proves to be good. If there is wear debris and too much wear debris, it is recommended to replace it.
Filter paper trace method
Prepare a clean white filter paper, drip a few drops of lubricating oil on the filter paper, wait for the lubricating oil to leak, and then observe whether there is black powder, and then touch it with your fingers to see if there is a sense of resistance. If there is, it means that there are a lot of impurities and it needs to be replaced; good lubricating oil should be free of powder, and it is very smooth when touched by fingers, and the color is yellow, which means that there is no problem with the lubricating oil.
