1: Anti-rust performance
The grease used in the bearing must have an anti-rust effect, and the anti-rust agent should preferably be insoluble in water. The grease should have good adhesion and can form an oil film on the surface of the steel.
2: Mechanical stability
Grease will soften during mechanical processing, resulting in leakage. During normal operation, the grease will be thrown from the bearing seat into the bearing. If the mechanical stability of the grease is not enough, the soap structure of the grease will mechanically disintegrate during operation, causing the grease to be destroyed and lose its lubricating effect.
3: Oil seal
The oil seal is a necessary barrier to protect the bearing and lubricant from external contamination. During the operation of the bearing, no debris or moisture can penetrate into the bearing to prevent damage to it.
Correct installation and maintenance are important factors in achieving the longest service life of the bearing. At the same time, attention must be paid to the cleanliness of the bearing, the correctness of the bearing selection, and the selection of appropriate installation and maintenance tools. In addition, the bearing must be protected from contaminants and moisture, and must be properly installed and lubricated. 4: Mixed grease
Never mix incompatible greases. If two incompatible greases are mixed, their consistency will usually become soft, and the bearing may be damaged due to the easy loss of grease. If you don't know which grease the bearing originally used, you must first thoroughly remove the old grease inside and outside the bearing before adding new grease.
5: Classification of grease
Mainly based on temperature and working conditions: Greases can be classified according to their allowable working temperature. The consistency and lubrication ability of grease are affected by the working temperature. Bearings operating at a certain temperature must choose grease with the correct consistency and good lubrication effect at the same temperature. Grease is manufactured in different working temperature ranges and can be roughly divided into low temperature, medium temperature and high temperature grease. At the same time, there is a type of grease called extrusion-resistant or extrusion-resistant and added with molybdenum disulfide. At the same time, additives are added to it to enhance the strength of the lubricating oil film.
6: Important factors in choosing grease
If the wrong grease is chosen, all preventive measures for bearings will be in vain. It is important to choose a grease whose base oil viscosity can provide sufficient lubrication at the operating temperature. Viscosity is mainly affected by temperature. It decreases as the temperature rises and increases when the temperature drops. Therefore, it is necessary to know the base oil viscosity at the operating temperature. Machinery manufacturers usually specify the use of a certain grease, but most standard greases are applicable to a wide range of applications.
